Make a complete furniture list
List every piece that needs to go, including loose cushions, bed frames, mirrors, or shelves that may not appear in the main photo. Identify unusually heavy or fragile pieces separately.
For sectionals, show every section. For beds, say whether the frame is already apart.
- Item name and quantity
- Approximate dimensions for oversized pieces
- Current room and floor
- Whether disassembly is likely
Show the route out
Photograph doorways, hallways, stairs, elevator entrances, and tight turns. This is especially important for sleeper sofas, wardrobes, large tables, and furniture in basements or upper-floor walk-ups.
Clear small objects from the route when possible, but do not attempt risky lifting or disassembly on your own.
- Remove personal items from drawers
- Secure doors or loose parts
- Keep pets and children away from the work area
- Leave heavy lifting to the crew
Separate removal from delivery
If new furniture is arriving, confirm whether the delivery company requires the old piece gone first. Leave enough time between appointments in case building or loading conditions change.
For multi-item pickups, mark any furniture that must stay so there is no confusion on pickup day.
