Confirm the building window

Ask management when service crews may enter, which elevator must be used, and where loading is permitted. A doorman’s verbal answer may not replace the building’s written move or contractor rules.

Share the confirmed window before scheduling so the pickup is not planned for a time the building will reject.

  • Freight-elevator reservation
  • Doorman or management check-in
  • Allowed service hours
  • Required contractor paperwork

Document the vertical route

For walk-ups, provide the floor, number of flights, and photos of narrow landings. For elevator buildings, identify the freight-elevator entrance and any turns between the unit and elevator.

Oversized furniture may require disassembly even when an elevator is available.

  • Unit doorway
  • Hallway width
  • Stair or elevator access
  • Lobby and building exit

Explain the loading location

Manhattan loading conditions can change the carrying distance. Identify the nearest practical legal stop, loading dock, garage restriction, or street rule that affects the truck.

Send a photo of the entrance and curb when the loading situation is unusual.
